USA-Wales’ World Cup 2022 Match ends in a 1-1 draw

The United States and Wales drew 1-1 in their first World Cup match at Al Rayyan Stadium.

Both teams are in Group B, along with England and Iran. A win in the game would have been huge for both teams given that England had beaten Iran 6-2 in their opener at the Khalifa International Stadium.

The Three Lions are expected to qualify from the group, with the second qualifying spot for the knockout phase at stake. Wales will play Iran on November 25, while the United States will face England on November 26.

The USA took the lead in the game through Timothy Weah in the 36th minute of the game. Both teams worked hard to score the next goal of the game but missed until Walker Zimmerman tapped Gareth Bale inside the 18-yard box, giving Wales a chance to score from the penalty spot. Bale deftly passed the ball past Matt Turner, securing a point for his team.

Bale has been a key player for Wales since making his debut in 2006. He has made 109 appearances for the Dragons so far, scoring 41 goals. Bale has won the Welsh Footballer of the Year award six times. The veteran attacker also starred in Los Angeles FC’s MLS Cup triumph, scoring a goal in the final.

Rob Page praises Gareth Bale

Wales manager Rob Page has praised his star attacker, Gareth Bale. Speaking to the media, he said: ‘It’s good to find those spaces. It is a wise head. He used all of his wisdom to win the penalty.

He is intelligent, he puts himself in those positions in the area, the defenders commit themselves and, if they don’t hit it, it could be a foul.

Bale has scored a number of important goals for Wales in recent games, including a game-winning free kick against Ukraine to secure the Dragons’ place in the World Cup.
