Brazil coach Tite has revealed that he regrets not calling up Gleison Bremer sooner.
The defender joined Juve this season from Torino, but has been in the Italian top flight since 2018.
He was Serie A Defender of the Season last season and that prompted the Bianconeri to add him to their squad as a replacement for outgoing Matthijs de Ligt.
He had to wait until this season to earn the call-up to the Brazilian team and Italy was already thinking of naturalizing him.
However, he was included in the Brazil squad for Qatar 2022 and Tite wished he had been in the squad sooner.
The coach said through Football Italia:
“bremer had this opportunity to be summoned thanks to his career and high-level performances in Turin and Juventus.
“Maybe we were wrong and didn’t watch it closely enough, because it deserved more of our attention much sooner.
“When he arrived here, in the games and in the training sessions that we did together, he gave a great feeling of certainty. He really is a great quality player.”
Juve FC says
Bremer has been in amazing form for us since moving to Allianz Stadium in the summer.
The central defender is different from the rest of the club’s defenders and his quality shows.
Hopefully he will continue to improve as the season progresses and we will get more value out of him.
