Manchester United academy loan Charlie Wellens has been spotted at Carrington training with the first team.
Ahead of the Carabao Cup match against Aston Villa, the youngster was spotted despite going out on loan at the start of the season.
It was only a couple of weeks ago that the right-back scored the first outright goal of his Oldham Athletic career.
He was originally meant to stay until early January but appears to have returned before Dalot’s suspension against Fulham in the Premier League.
Wellens is the son of former Man United graduate and Oldham star Richie Wellens, who currently manages Leyton Orient.
His first senior goal came at a difficult time for the club after their manager decided to leave the team at the end of September.
Through official training photos on the Manchester United website, youngsters Shola Shoretire, Noam Emeran and Di’Shon Bernard were also spotted.
Some of the youngsters yet to show up for Erik ten Hag may get their chance on the bench against Aston Villa on Thursday.
A solid starting eleven is expected after the team’s poor performance against the same rival on Sunday.
Why Wellens returned before his loan remains to be seen, but it could be the result of Dalot being suspended from the league this weekend.
Aaron Wan Bissaka is back after a long injury layoff, but he is not expected to play a major role this season, and looks likely to leave in January.
Ten Hag faces a team selection issue this weekend and could be forced to bring the out-of-form English right-back into the starting eleven. However, he is not fit for the match as he has no minutes under his belt, so Wellens could be seen as a better option.
