Two giants of the English Premier League, Arsenal and Manchester United, are seeking to sign Paraguayan winger Miguel Almiron from Newcastle United.
Miguel Almiron began his football career at the Cerro Porteño academy. The winger then graduated from the Cerro Porteño academy and headed for the senior team.
He played two seasons for the Paraguayan team before joining Argentine soccer club Lanús. Almiron stayed one season in Argentina and won the Argentine First Division. The winger later moved to Major League Soccer club Atlanta United.
In Atlanta, Almiron quickly became one of their star players and helped them win the MLS Cup. He played three seasons at the club before joining Newcastle United of the English Premier League.
Manchester United and Arsenal in the race for Almirón
Paraguayan winger Miguel Almiron is in the best moment of his life. Almiron, 27, has already scored seven goals for Newcastle in this season’s English Premier League. He is currently the fittest winger in the entire division.
As a result, clubs like Manchester United and Arsenal have taken an interest in the Newcastle winger. In a recent interview, this was recently confirmed by Miguel Almiron’s agent, Daniel Campos.
While speaking with ABC Cardinal, Campos said that “Miguel Almiron is a footballer who went from less to more, now he is a more complete footballer.”
“There was interest from Manchester United in Miguel Almiron but they never made an offer. Arsenal and Southampton offered loan deals for Miguel Almiron but we didn’t want it to be a loan,” added Cardinal.
Now Newcastle United currently consider Miguel Almiron as one of the key players in their squad. They have no interest in selling the end. But Almiron has a £58m release clause in his contract. This may turn out to be a great opportunity for other clubs.
Since the arrival of Erik ten hag, Manchester United are doing quite well. The Red Devils are currently in fifth position in the table with twenty-three points. But the United management knows that they need enough signings to have an ideal squad.
United are currently linked with many players. Paraguayan winger Miguel Almiron is one of them. The £58m price tag isn’t too much to ask for the Red Devils. So if they lock up Almiron, it can be a very good transfer for them.
Then there is Arsenal, who are currently one of the main contenders for the EPL title along with Manchester City. Like United, Arsenal are looking to strengthen their squad in January. His interest in Almiron is known, but an offer of a loan at this time will not do any good.
