Liverpool scored a win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Tottenham Hotspur are struggling to maintain their form with their injury-hit squad. This was a much-needed victory for both sides. But only Liverpool emerged victorious in the end.
Mohamed Salah scored twice and has put Liverpool back in the Top 4 race again. In the games against Nottingham Forest and Leeds, Jurgen Klopp’s team suffered two shocking defeats. After losing some of their important players this summer, the Reds are having a harder time in the Premier League.
Jurgen Klopp arrived with the diamond formation with Salah and Núñez leading the attack. Firmino was right behind them to support the attack.
Antonio Conte was forced to use a 5-3-2 formation without Son and Richarlison. But Kulusevski did start the match from the bench after returning from a lengthy injury.

The first goal came in the 11th minute with a selfless pass from Darwin Núñez to Salah. The Egyptian striker scored the goal by surprise, as there was no reaction from Lloris’s goal. Although Tottenham tried to even the score with several attacks. But an error by Eric Dier just gave away a goal, as Salah punished the Tottenham defence.
In the second half, Tottenham struggled to level the score. They had several good chances as Perisic’s shot hit the crossbar once. In the 70th minute, Tottenham recovered a goal with Kane scoring from a pass from Kulusevski.
In general, it was Liverpool who deserved this victory. They dominated in possession with more than 53% of the possession. But both teams were almost equal in attack with almost the same number of shots on goal.
While speaking to reporters after the match, Klopp praised Salah’s performance. He revealed: “Mo had a slow start, but he participated in most of the chances in Europe, but he didn’t take them, that’s completely normal for a striker.” The coach was also happy with Salah’s two goals.
On his team’s performance, Klopp said: “Winning here is incredibly difficult. We have to show the attitude, and the commitment to stand up for ourselves all the time. We have to show that we don’t get hit too much when we concede a goal. I liked that tonight. I didn’t want to give in, but I thought the reaction was good.”
During the post-match interview, Conte said: “It’s hard to explain the loss. We deserved so much more. But in the first half he was happy with the will, the desire. We put a lot of pressure on Liverpool and we didn’t know why we were down 2-0.”
Conte was also happy with Tottenham’s performance in the second half. And he added: “In the second half we played very well, we created many chances. The goalkeeper made good saves and we hit the post and the crossbar”.
