James has now confirmed that he will miss the 2022 World Cup. He took to Twitter to post a message, admitting that he is devastated that he will go to the World Cup.

“Devastated,” James wrote on Twitter. β€œAt the moment I injured my knee, I knew that the return to the World Cup would be difficult, but I always felt that it was possible. I’ve worked harder than I ever thought I could to give myself the best chance to go and I really believed I could help the team.

β€œI appreciate that there was a risk on both sides, but I was willing to take it. Good luck guys. I will be back soon. Stay safe and send love.β€œ

Another Chelsea player, Ben Chilwell, has also been ruled out of the World Cup. Chilwell was stopped with a hamstring problem during the Blues’ 2–1 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

Phillips has spent most of the 22/23 season sidelined with injury. He is currently recovering after undergoing surgery to fix a recurring problem with his shoulder.

Walker, meanwhile, is recovering from groin surgery. Both players face a race against time to be fit in time for the World Cup. The tournament, meanwhile, begins on November 20.
