Former Borussia Mönchengladbach man Oliver Neuville admits it will be difficult for the German club to keep Juventus as a target for Marcus Thuram.
Thuram has been in fine form this campaign, earning him a spot in France’s Qatar 2022 squad.
He has been effective in front of goal in the Bundesliga and remains one of the best scorers in the German top flight.
Juve see him as an excellent player to add to their team, but Gladbach want him to sign a new contract.
The current one expires at the end of this season and seems ready to go.
Gladbach remains hopeful, but Neuville thinks he will go. He says via Calciomercato: “I think it will be difficult for him to stay at Gladbach because if he continues scoring so many goals, surely, in Italy or Spain or England, he will have many proposals. It is also necessary to be a little’ realistic.
“I hope that he will still stay here in Mönchengladbach for a long time, but now he has also been called up by the French team for the World Cup. It’s going to be hard for me to extend the contract, I hope so but the chances are few”.
Juve FC says
Thuram has been one of the best attackers in Europe this season and the Frenchman will make us better.
However, signing him as a free agent will not be easy. This is because other major European clubs will also be looking to add him to their squad.
